German championship and qualification for European championship 2009

German championship and qualification for
European championship 2009

Just before the end of the current race season the LIBRE Race-Team draw a balance: all Spirit pilots did master final placements in the top
ten for the German championship.
So five LIBRE pilots will go to the European championship which will take place in SPO at the 16.09.2009.

Because of bad wind- and weather conditions it wasn’t possible to do the last race for the German championship. So the incumbent European champion Michael Nast missed the chance for the title and is placed second now on the ranking list.

2nd place Michael Nast
3rd place Florian Kerker
4th place Bene Kerker
5th place Bernd Spiering
6th place Rolf Schäfer

Also the LIBRE women had a very successful race season. In the German championship the Spirit pilots won following placements, which is the qualification for the European championship.

2nd place Wanda Hennemann
3rd place Stefanie Mohr
4th place Eva Schlenker

In the Junior Class Randy Oldenbürger won a great 2nd place.

LIBRE pilots in the Kiddy Class:

1st place André Lamek
2nd place Justin Oldenbürger
3rd place Fin Freinsheimer

We congratulate all LIBRE team pilots on this excellent results and we are looking forward to an exciting European championship!

6 Spirit-pilots in top-ten

The 4th race for the German Kitebuggy championship 2009 in Sankt Peter Ording was a big success for the Libre team!
With the 1st place European champion Michi Nast is back in front!
Florian Kerker (2nd place), Bernd Spiering (4th place) und Sebastian Thomes (5th place) did also very well with their top-placements.
Bad luck had Rolf Schäfer (8th place) and Bene Kerker (13th place) who didn’t come in front because of several line rips.

A also very good race had the women Wanda Hannemann (2nd place) and Steffi Mohr (3rd place)

A further 1st place with the Spirit made André Lamek in the Kiddy class.

Congratulation to the entire Libre race team to this successful weekend!

Dennis Gijsbers - Dutch champion 2009

Libre team pilot Dennis Gijsbers has won the championship of the dutch Kitebuggy Masters 2008/2009 at 14th June.
Before the last run of the racing series the pilots on the places 1, 2 and 3 were quite close: Dennis with the Spirit, 10 points, Rens van Lier with the Zebra, 16 points and John Jansen with the Jojo RM, 19 points. The last races on 13th and 14th June should bring the decision.

Unfortunately, the weather was a spoilsport. On saturday there was no wind and on sunday only rain...
Thus the results remained like it was and Dennis could celebrate his first national mastery.

For the whole period of the racing season Dennis was always the quickest on the technically demanding courses. On downwind courses he always better converted the potential of th Spirit into speed and extended his lead.

Dennis will be present on the European championship in SPO in September.

Last year he came in fourth at the EM in Gravelines. This year he aims a top-3-placing.

The next season Dennis will try to join in more international races than this year.

Icicles at Westward Ho - Great Britain, 24./25.01.2009

Racing in the Icicles at Westward Ho!

Gray Wass won 2nd place with the Spirit!

Despite very difficult wind and course conditions Gray Wass could manage to hold the lead with his Spirits for most of the time. So he finished in 2nd place which is a great placement and again a top placement of the Spirit!
Congratulation to Gray for this great success!

Also sensational is the result of the 15 years old Junior Rob Wells! He already races in the master class. With his new Zebra Z2 kites he finished in 5th place.
Congratulation Rob, well done!

Report: Gray Wass

I had a great start in extremely light winds but I was right to select my 10.5 Spirit and soon established myself as a contender. For the first hour I managed to hold the lead for most of the time whilst a lot of pilots suffered in the  light turbulent  cross offshore wind particularly at the top turning mark at the far end of the beach. Around the hour mark I too made a mistake there and could only sit  in my buggy and watch my kite drop into the shallow water.  I bundled my kite up and scooted back to the technical zone where I was able to change kites and get back into the race on my 9 meter.

After 2 hours the wind swung around to offshore and strengthened this forced all the Pilots in again to change down to smaller kites and speeded up the lap times considerably. This helped some of the pilots who had experienced problems earlier to get back into the race. I was comfortable on the 6.6m Spirit and was able to keep the other pilots behind me. The other factor in the last hour was the oncoming tide, the marshals were having to constantly reposition the turning marks which made navigating the course a nightmare. It truly was an endurance event because you could never relax because the conditions of the wind the course and the sea were always changing. 20 + started the race and only 15 managed to complete 1 or more laps that’s how testing it was.

Rob Wells had a great race and finished in 5 th place!

Ijmuiden, 08/09 November 2008

Hat trick! Big success for Team Libre Netherlands at the first run of the 2009 dutch championships.

On Saturday the conditions were just as good as the results of the Libre team riders. Sunny weather and winds about 5 to 6 Bft. made a quite perfect beginning for the first run of the 2009 dutch championships. Fighting hard, Dennis Gijsbers (Spirit/Protask) beated Arjen van der Tol (Spirit/Protask) in an exciting first race day. Team member Rens van Lier (Zebra Z2) ended up third. He´s challenging hard and likes competing with his Zebra Kite Z2.

On Sunday the beach was afloat so the race management decided not to start the races concerning too tiny space on the beach for all the riders. Therefore, ranking as follows:

1. Dennis Gijsbers / Spirit / Protask
2. Arjen van der Tol / Spirit / Protask
3. Rens van Lier / Zebra Z2

SPO, 25/26 October 2008

Well done, boy!

Dennis Gijsbers wins the finals in St. Peter-Ording/Northern Germany.

“flying dutchman” Dennis left behind the co-competitors and dominated the final heat. Once again he proved his skills as a supportive and constantly improving international team rider during season 2008.

And another time the Spirit had a big success and enlarges the winning title list.

Congrats Dennis!

Congratulation to the entire LIBRE Euro-Team for the brilliant
placements in France.

Eva Schlenker won the European champion title 2008.

Michi Nast won by a clear margin the European champion title 2008.

Further Spirit pilots won following placements:
Florian Kerker 3rd place
Dennis Gijsbers 4th place
Benjamin Bartholomeus 6th place
Benedikt Kerker 7th place

For many watcher the brilliant placement of the Zebra-teampilot Rens van Lier
was a little sensation. He won the 5th place in the overall standings and got
a lot of attention for the Zebra Z2.

We are very happy about this great success of the Spirit and Zebra Z2

Easter regatta 2008

At the Easter regatta in SPO our LIBRE-teampilot EVA SCHLENKER won the first place.
For the first time she raced with the LIBRE-PROTAST-Buggy and flew the latest LIBRE Race Kite SPIRIT.
Eva felt comfortable with the new material and won the race by a clear margin.
Also a great run had our dutch LIBRE-teampilot DENNIS GIJSBERS. He grew with the new SPIRIT enormously and so he won the second place in the masterclass. It was the first international regatta where he stood on a podium.

The new SPIRIT were also used successfully in the masterclass of the German championship for the first time. So all of the SPIRIT-pilots achieved top ten placements for the single and overall standings.
